Following the Decision 277/2006/QD-TTg approving the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation NTP 2006-2010 (NTP II) "... all of the schools have clean water and hygienic latrines by 2010". To improve awareness and well implement the sanitation tasks in schools, Ministry of Education and Training request Provincial Departments of Education and Training to well organize and implement the following tasks:

- Be active in cooperate with the Provincial Steering board of NTP II, with Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Health in preparing annual work plan and implementing Circular 93/2007/TTLT/BNN-BYT-BGDDT with assigned tasks for education and training sector.
- Training for teachers on "Personal hygiene and environment sanitation and direct them to integrate this issue in their formal lessons and part-time activities on this issue.
- Organize "Sanitation school day" to improve knowledge, change behavior for pupils.
- Disseminate and apply widely the document "Standard latrine design for schools" (at decision 1486/QD-BGDDT on 31/3/2008)
- Cooperate with local related agencies to promote the International year of Sanitation 2008 and participate in the Global day for handing washing with soap 15th Oct.
