Training workshops provided to all PCERWASSAfter a long process of development and appraisal, the “Standard Latrines
for kindergarten, primary and high schools” was approved and issued by
Ministry of Education and Training Minister at the decision 1486/QÐ-BGDÐT
on 31/3/2008.
NCERWASS and WES/UNICEF organize 2 workshops in Tuyen Quang (27-28 August)
and HCMC (10-11 September) to introduce the standard latrine designs for
64 PCERWASS. The objective of the workshop is to introduce new WES school
standard designs to participants and to share experiences and lesson learnt
on implementation of school WES projects for the better achievement of the
set objectives of RWSS NTP on WES coverage of school and kindergarten in
Vietnam.
About 120 participants from 56 PCERWASS attended the workshops
The workshops concluded with following issues:
All agreed on the important and useful of the child-friendly school WES
designs. The school WES designs provide principles and basic
requirements for school WES projects while the technical details (water
supply, drainage…. ) need to be made by implementation partners to
ensures quality of the constructed facilities.
Cooperation between PCERWASS, DOET and DOH is very important for a
school WES project
Technical experts from PCERWASSs need to carefully review the designs
and provide comments to NCERWASS, NCERWASS will consolidate all of
comments to send to MARD/MOET for consideration of adjustment in the
next revision
NCERWASS will work closely with its consultant to finalise the technical
guideline for designing and construction school WES as soon as possible
Relevant local partner/ beneficiaries need to work more closely to
improve O& M of school WES facilities
