From 30 to 31 August 2011, Ministry of Health incollboration with RWSSP and iDE organized the workshop "Sanitation marketing on RWSS in Vietnam - results, lessons learnt and solutions for scaling up”. The workshop objective is to share  results, lessons learnt and evaluate strengths and weakness of this approach and discuss for appropriate solutions for scaling up.

iDE Vietnam started to implement sanitation marketing since 2003 in provinces belonging to poor coastal areas  (Thanh Hóa, Quảng Nam), extremely poor mountainous areas (Đăckrông, Quảng Trị), and poor poor mountainous areas (Yên Bái) and provided  technical assistance to NTP in An Giang and Quảng Trị.

Sanitation marketing applyed commercial marketing hints, using public investment to create demand by poor housholds to improve sanitation and promote private sector to supply products/ services to meet such demands on wide market mechanism.
